Connect Microsoft 365 to Claude (Full Setup Guide)
Claude just became one brain for your entire Microsoft workspace.
This guide shows you exactly how to set it up and what to do with it.
What is this?
Anthropic just launched Microsoft 365 connectors — available on every Claude plan, including free.
That means Claude can now read your Outlook emails, access your OneDrive files, and search your SharePoint folders — all inside a single conversation.
No more switching between apps. No more copy-pasting context. You just ask, and Claude already knows.
Why this matters
Microsoft Copilot has been the "official" AI for Microsoft 365 for two years. The problem? It only works inside each app individually — it can't connect your email context to your docs context.
Claude now does what Copilot promised but never delivered: one conversation that sees everything.
How to set it up (5 minutes)
Step 1 — Open the connectors page
You'll see a list of available integrations. Click Add connector.
Step 2 — Select Microsoft 365
Sign in with your Microsoft account when prompted. Grant the permissions it asks for — this is what lets Claude read your data.
Step 3 — Choose what to connect
| App | What Claude can access |
|---|---|
| ✉️ Outlook | Emails, threads, calendar events |
| 📁 OneDrive | Your personal documents and files |
| 🗂️ SharePoint | Shared team folders and company docs |
Connect all three for the full experience.
Step 4 — Start a new Claude chat
That's it. Claude will now have access to your Microsoft workspace inside every conversation.
What to ask it
Here are prompts you can use immediately:
- "Summarise my unread emails from today"
- "Are there any emails I haven't replied to in the last 3 days?"
- "Draft a reply to [name]'s last email, keep it short and professional"
Docs & Files
- "Find the proposal we sent to [client] last month"
- "Summarise the key points from [document name]"
- "What were the action items from our last meeting notes?"
Cross-app
- "I have a call with [name] tomorrow — pull up our last email thread and any shared docs"
- "Based on the brief in OneDrive, draft an email update to the team"
- "What do I need to catch up on before Monday?"
Tips to get the most out of it
- Be specific — the more context you give, the better Claude can search
- Combine sources — ask it to pull from both email and docs in one prompt
- Use it for summarisation — great for catching up after time off
- Chain tasks — "find the doc, summarise it, then draft an email based on it" all in one message
Available on every Claude plan — including free.
